Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need, known as GAANN, is a fellowship opportunity funded at Drexel University by the U.S. Department of Education. This program provides funding to graduate students who plan to pursue a doctoral degree.
The Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering Department currently hosts fellows in two GAANN programs: Educating Renaissance Engineers and The Urban Hazard Mitigation: Creating Sustainability and Resillience.
GAANN Fellows will be prepared for careers in academia
through specific programs designed to develop both effective teaching
skills and the ability to compete for research funds, which is becoming
increasingly important for promotion and tenure. To learn more about the department's research and GAANN programming

The Drexel University College of Engineering currently has funding for a GAANN Fellowship in Renewable Energy Technologies and Infrastructure Networks. (pdf)
